In the Oolfa Muslim Marriage App, conversations begin only after two members mutually like each other—a match. While many matches lead to positive, faith-based connections, some may not develop as expected. Whether it’s due to incompatibility, a shift in goals, or discomfort, Oolfa gives you full control with the Unmatch feature.
Unmatching ends the connection and removes the chat thread between both members. It also ensures that your privacy and peace of mind are preserved.
In this guide, you’ll learn when and how to unmatch with another member.
Reasons for Unmatching
Unmatching is completely normal and sometimes necessary. You may consider unmatching if:
- The Conversation Isn’t Going Well
The exchange takes an unexpected direction or no longer feels meaningful. - Your Interests Have Changed
You may have new priorities or better clarity on what you’re looking for. - You Feel Uncomfortable or Incompatible
If a member makes you uneasy or seems misaligned with your values, unmatching is a respectful way to move on.
How to Unmatch a Member
You can unmatch a member in three different ways: from the Chat screen, the Messages screen, or their Profile screen.
Option 1: Unmatch from the Chat Screen
- Go to your Messages tab and open the chat with the member.
- Tap the menu icon (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Select “Unmatch” from the list of options.
- Confirm your decision when prompted.
Once unmatched, the chat history will be deleted and you will no longer be able to message each other.

Option 2: Unmatch from the Messages Screen
- Open the Messages screen.
- Locate the chat you want to end.
- Swipe the conversation to the left to reveal options.
- Tap “Unmatch” and confirm when prompted.
This method allows for quick unmatching without opening the full chat.

Option 3: Unmatch from the Profile Screen
- Visit the profile of the member you’d like to unmatch with.
- Tap the menu icon (⋮) at the top-right of their profile.
- Select “Unmatch” and confirm the action.
You’ll be removed from each other’s match lists, and the chat will no longer be accessible.

A Respectful Way to Move On
Unmatching is a private action—members are not notified when you unmatch them. It’s a helpful tool that allows you to maintain a safe and focused experience while continuing your search for the right Muslim partner.
Remember, you are under no obligation to continue a conversation that doesn’t feel right. Oolfa encourages sincere, respectful interaction—and that includes knowing when to move on.
